Firstly, lets set the context, by identifying what, in a Biblical sense, would constitute being an 'abomination' [to God], that would 'make desolate', as recorded by Daniel.
To many past, and present, Christian Bible students, the Bible, the whole of the Bible, speaks of, and lays out God's plan for mankind's spiritual redemption, 'the time of reformation'.
A plan culminating in the sacrifice of Jesus the Christ [the Messiah of Israel], as the Lamb of God.
Many Christian Bible students would recognise that the Temple sacrifice [and the previous desert Tabernacle sacrifice] as being a pattern [for atonement], which foretold [and was a confirmation] of the coming, of a final atonement for sin, ....that atonement sacrifice offering being Jesus, as the Lamb of God.

ISLAM - denies that Jesus is the Christ ['Messiah']
Being in direct opposition to any spiritual redemption of mankind, ISLAM itself is an Antichrist which would make 'desolate' [make 'desolate' the heart of men], denying the redemptive act [atonement sacrifice] of God's son, Jesus the Christ, the Messiah.
God's spirit seeks a place of abode, in the heart of men [a concept spoken of throughout the O.T. bible], but God's spiritual presence within man, would be displaced by ISLAM's master.
And, aiding that end, the biblical Jesus [to all muslims] is debased, from [being revealed as] God's Christ ['Messiah'], to merely being Allah's prophet.

What could be more of an abomination to the God of Israel [the jealous God], than to set up a structure of worship to a false God [Allah, is not the God of Israel!!], a structure of false worship set up beside what was said to be Solomon's Temple site, the Temple site which was to be used by God's chosen people [Israel], [a place] to facilitate a 'pattern' for atonement for sin, through sacrifice?
But more than that!, the Dome of the Rock is a structure which in its essence [in the prominent inscriptions within its structure], actually DECLARES a denial of God's plan of atonement, and specifically denies Jesus personal validity, as the atonement sacrifice - for mankind, made by God.
Within the

Those who cannot recognise this TRUTH, cannot recognise it because of the darkness in their hearts.

And the Bible informs us that the nation of Israel, the tribe of people, Israel, have been 'afflicted' in the world, because they 'forgot' the covenant, that their fathers had made with their God.

This life, here on this little planet, is only the start, and only a small portion of 'life'.
'Life' is that thing, towards which we all travel - which is, in another word, 'reality', or 'God'.
So, don't be dumb, and don't be wicked!
