PAST PLAYERS

Brent Moloney was picked up  in Rnd
11 season 2004 as an uncontracted player .
We had watched his progress for some
weeks prior to this decision in a view he
will become a viable part in our midfield
down the track. During the split round of
rnd 13 we had a chance to pick up Brent
Harvey , so as part of that deal we decided
to trade him to Stingers. All the Best

Matt Carr was selected in Round 2 of the
initial drafts and was considered a vital cog
in our plans. As a Kick winner who takes a
few marks he was marked in for a CHF
spot but had a slow start to the season after
recovering from injury in the Pre-season .
We have traded Matt in the Brent Harvey
deal . Will do well for Stingers in many
 Positions. Also a goal kicker.

We selected Dion in the latter rounds of the
initial drafts mainly as a back up to one of our
corridor players, as he was qualified in a couple
of positions. He has had a slow start to the year
and hasnt managed to find a permanent position
in the side this season so it was decided to delist
him and give him an opportunity elsewhere.
He was put up for trade many times but no
offers were forthcoming. Delisted Rnd 14

Chris has been injured for most of this season
which makes it hard to judge his true impact for
this club . With the inclusion of Brent Harvey to
the side it was going to make it hard for Chris
to find another position as he has not given us
the output and time on field of other players in
the forward line. We had a look at other players
in the squad and judged him not to be as vital.
  Delisted round 15 season 2004.

Anthony or " Stevo" as he is known everywhere
has decided to retire at the conclusion of the
2004 season. Stevo become the ultimate utility
player this season playing in many positions
and also doing quite well in them . His first half
of the season saw him challenging for our best
player award before age got the better of him. It
was hoped he could of went 1 more season but
the boots went up on the wall.

Jason Ball was the only qualified ruckman on
the Shinboners list in season 2004. Jason was a
big winner in hit outs but didnt quite hit the
heights in taking marks. Since Jason didnt get
to the required 4 marks per game barrier he has
not qualified for season 2005 in the ruck. This
has left us to match him against Matthew Clarke
for the BP position which we felt he would be
secondary. Jason was subsequently delisted in
the 1st round of the Priority Drafts 2005

Byron Pickett had a very disappointing season
in 2004 playing only 6 games and not troubling
the scorers once. Injured for most of the season
with a shoulder injury he never recovered his
form for the rest of the season. The Shinboners
decided that it could not go into the season with
two specialist forwards in Pickett and Motlop
and the younger Motlop won out. Byron was
delisted in the first round of the Priority draft
 for season 2005.

Shaun McManus was a great performer through
season 2004 scoring most weeks in a variety of
positions . He started in the rovers position and
ended up in the half back position by years end
nearly getting the guys home in the Preliminary
final against Blue Wogs. Shaun would be the
most unlucky of the delisted players this pre
season but the Shinboners have decided to punt
on youth in some of the kicking positions.
Delisted in 1st Priority round season 2005.

Stuart Maxfield was a solid contributor in the
first part of the 2004 season mainly playing W1
or as a kicking interchange player. He was the
mentor for Daniel Wells in the wing position
and with the emergence of this super star the
opportunities for ground time would have been
very limited. The Shinboners have decided to go
in the direction of youth for Kicking positions
as per Shaun McManus so Stuart was delisted in
the 1st priority draft round of 2005.

Stephen Powell was one of the best performed
players in season 2004 playing in the prime
positions of FB and rover . His possessions did
dry up in the last quarter of the season to an
extent of dropping his kicking average to below
qualifying standards . This had ruled him out of
the rovers position this year and he has been
superseded in the FB possie by Darren Milburn.
He will be greatly missed and was regrettably
delisted in the 1st priority round of 2005.

Chad is one of the younger players on our list
but injuries have taken their toll on his playing
time and new players have stood up. Chad was
being groomed for a Ruck/Forward position and
was realistically about 2 years away but the
constraints of time have made it hard for him to
stay on the list. Chad was delisted at the start of
the 9th Round in season 2005.

Tom was selected early on in our first season off
of the free player list primarily to fill the BP1
position. This season Toms stats have dried up
and a shift was made for him to fill in the ruck
duties as his marking stats would allow him to
do so. As this has no long term future and being
able to select more versatile young players into
the position temporarily ,we have decided to free
up the list and delist Tom at the start of rnd 10
season 2005

Mitch came to our club as a bargain buy in the
5th round of the initial drafts. His first season
was solid but a little inconsistent as most FF2
players are as they start out but managed a few
quality games nearing the end of season 2004.
This had him in a starting position during 2005
pre-season but some structual positional changes
by the new coach forced him out of the line up
and delisted before rnd 11 season 2005.

The old warhorse gave us unbelievable impact
during our inaugural season scoring at over a
goal a game at BP2 and would have gone very
close to all sim selection that year. Matt was
very high up in the club B&F in 2004 and we
were looking for him to take on a nuturing role
for Hale and Johnson for this season but a bad
timing of injury curtailed his 2005 season after
1 game and by rnd 14 we had decide to look for
youth and delist Matt after 22 good games .

Gavin was our very first pick in the initial
drafts before season 2004 and a lot was expected
of him mainly at CHB position. His season 2004
was of a solid standard but in the end could not
hold down that main position and was then
used in a variety of possies on the wing and up
forward. Once again injuries slowed him down
through 2005 and with no room on the forward
line and a decrease in kicking stats Gavin was
delisted before rnd 16 season 2005.

Daniel was picked up by the club with great
expectations as an elusive forward with a great
eye for goal. Daniel played nearly every game in
season 2004 but could rarely reach the magical
10 kick mark per game and left us short in the
position he played. Daniel was given ample
opportunity and even filled in the ruck in the
2005 season before the Shinboners had to delist
someone to be in financial shape before the
Grand Final. Delisted before GF season 2005.

Alan was picked up by the club as 3rd pick in
the 2005 priority drafts and we were very
happy that we had got him. Alan is a scoring
player with high stats when on song and played
some great games through the middle of the
season after his injury start and end to the year.
Alan was traded to Stingers in the 2006
drafts for the ruckman we have needed for a
long time, Luke Darcy. We wish Alan all the best
with his career in the Stingers uniform.
