La Vie en Rose and Ratatouille
Seven courageous members ventured forth on a cold mid-winter's evening for the Alliance Française du Nord Ouest de la Tasmanie meeting at Penguin on 2 August. Amongst other things we talked about two new films relating to France.

La Vie en Rose – a biographical film about la chanteuse légendaire Edif Piaf which will be showing at the CMax in Devonport from August 23 for two weeks (but will not be shown at Metro Burnie).
Édith Piaf (née Édith Giovanna Gassion le 19 décembre 1915 à Paris, morte le 10 octobre 1963 à Grasse), surnommée « la Môme Piaf », est une chanteuse française de music-hall et de variétés. On lui doit de très nombreux succès du répertoire francophone comme La Vie en rose, Non, je ne regrette rien, Hymne à l'amour, Mon légionnaire ou Milord. Personnalité hors norme, elle inspirera de nombreux compositeurs, sera le mentor de nombreux jeunes artistes et connaîtra une renommée internationale, malgré de graves problèmes de santé. Édith Piaf fut aussi comédienne au théâtre et au cinéma.

The animated Disney cartoon Ratatouille is a story about a rat who wants to become a Chef in a high class restaurant in Paris!
Will be showing from the 7th September at CMax Devonport, and 6th September at Metro Burnie, well timed for the school break however regrettably, CMax have confirmed that it is the American/English version.
There is a French language version which would be much more fun and more authentique (à mon avis!) than the American language one however this may not be so easy to obtain in Tasmania?
Ratatouille Niçois is a vegetarian dish originating in the South of France and it is typically composed of Tomatoes, Courgettes , Red Peppers, Onions and sometimes Aubergines "melted" slowly in olive oil.

With reference to Zinidane Zidane’s (aka Zizou) header, in the short cartoon that I showed, it was suggested that it might be a “coupe” de boule but the actual term is coup de boule and, for those interested, I found a WordReference discussion thread on it at
