Lyrics | This is a funky rap that my cousin and I recorded at the end of 2006. I provided lyrics and percussion; he provided guitar and mixing skills; my sister also gets a guernsey with a couple of lines of spoken word. The idea for the lyrics sprang out of an energetic family debate over lunch about the (de)merits of capitalism and possible alternatives. Later (in April 2007) my friend Aaron added a drum track and mixed it in. |
| Beating the heating | It's amazing how much like a snare drum a radiation heater with grate can sound when you beat it with your hand... just listen to this. Here I whack the heater around with some syncopated freestyling backed by a slightly muted invariant (well, mostly) rhythm beat out on a desk. Feedback caused an echo of this background beat to reappear as a ticking-clicking sound. |
