Microsoft releases
CRITICAL PATCH (breaking news and urgent!) - 24th October
BREAKING NEWS!
Microsoft just released the critical update that you must review and
implement!
Microsoft is scheduled to release a security bulletin (out-of-band) to
address a vulnerability in all currently supported versions of Windows. The
software update will be available for download from the Microsoft Update /
Windows Update web site from 4am Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time (AEDST)
on Friday, October 24, 2008.
This security update will be released outside of the usual monthly security
bulletin release cycle in an effort to protect customers. Microsoft
recommends customers prepare their systems and networks to apply this
security bulletin immediately once released to help ensure that their
computers are protected from attempted criminal attacks.
This year marks my fifth year
as an MVP. Whilst I have been most fortunate to have been to the Microsoft
campus, seen Bill Gates in person and participated in steering the future of
SBS, nothing has been exciting as the coming release of SBS2008.
If it was not for
Microsoft's commitment to the MVP program and the community, I would not
have achieve a quarter of the goals I had nor see what I have seen.
Microsoft have been gracious again and I am
proud to have them behind
me. This is a
privilege and I am humbled for this is the 5h year in a row.
Due to my community
involvement I have been able to participate in many milestones.
In 2006 I was the Executive Director if a short film called Dryzone, Never say wet again.
In 2004 I ran the I.T for the Australian Scout Jamboree (13,000 people) and the NCYC 05 youth events
in 2005.
During 2006 I tried my hand as a technical editor for the book, "Pro Windows Small Business Server 2003 by Tony Cambell" (UK), published by Apress (Check it out at Amazon).
From this site you will connect with, and find lots of links to Microsoft based technical support and newsgroups. I want to make this site a little more interesting than most "Tech" Sites. Please feel free to drop me a note and tell me what you like or hate.
I am building this for you, my readers.
I have put Small Business Server relevant links on this site and any small whitepapers or discussion notes I
have created. It is still a skeleton of a site but I find it useful and plan
to add much more. I also work with many other software products so these items will link in here to.
I help people through the online newsgroups however I receive many emails directed to me from this site
and this is my main focus. I do not have all the answers. There are people out there with much more information and experience than I. I plan to put people in touch with the right person for the right question.
I will also post my adventures in I.T. and in general.I am also a member of the South
Australian SBS users group and have occasionally attend the ADNUG MSDN .Net group in
South Australia.
The links for these will be on my resource page.
Where can you find me?
You will see me online in
numerous Newsgroups. I stick with mainly SBS (Microsoft Small Business
Server) related material. I work with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft ISA,
Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Server,
SharePoint Team Services and much more.
From my MVP side of life, I
really want to thank Wayne Small, Susan Bradley, Jeff Middleton and many more
MVP’s for their continued support and friendship/ They have helped me to understand
and adjust to my responsibilities. I will include links to these MVP's blogs and the users
groups in my resource page.
If you do not subscribe to any security newsletters, antivirus or update emails, you can email
