Mark's Motorcycling History

BSA B50/CCM 500 1971

I wanted a fast, good handling single cylinder road bike so I bought the B50 which almost filled the role, it went around corners nicely but the engine although a pleasant slogger didn't cut it. The CCM motor being BSA based dropped straight in. The CCM's brutalness had been taken away by the extra weight ,alternator, muffler and pump petrol but it still went pretty hard. It evolved further, I used the B50 crank and barrel to stroke it to 580cc. It's last change was a twin disc front end as the standard BSA sls stopper was not up to it. After many years of regular use the bike was sold to the guy who originally bought the CCM frame to be restored to an original CCM.
