Review of Rex
CLASS pet Rex the chameleon goes home each day with a different student who records his escapades in a journal: Amy's little brother dresses him up in Malibu Barbie's clothes, for instance, while at the movies Rex transforms into a T-rex who frightens the audience. This is a cleverly designed book, with the text occasionally jumping around the page but always pausing at the right moment. Ursula Dubosarsky's cunning imagination and David Mackintosh's lively, character-driven drawings engage until the final lingering question: What would Rex get up to if you took him home?
