The Aries Equinox chart is an astrological snapshot of the Heavens taken at the precise moment the Sun enters the sign Aries (of the Earth's Tropical zodiac).
The sphere of the zodiac represents the field of planetary (or collective) consciousness. And because Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the Aries Equinox chart is said to represent a blueprint of the twelve month cycle of the Earth's year. Therefore much useful information concerning mundane events occurring on our planet during the year can be gleaned through its interpretation.
My method of interpretation of the Aries Equinox chart is very similar to the way I interpret a solar return chart—especially when it comes to the timing of events. That's because the circle of the zodiac in relation the our planetary logos is analogous to the circle of houses for an individual human-being.
For solar returns I employ a unique method that aligns the twelve houses of the chart with the twelve months of an individual's 'personal year'. Your personal year begins when the transiting Sun returns to the longitudinal position it occupied at the moment of your birth. Each house in a solar return chart represents the month of the year that coincides with its number. So for example, the 5th house of your solar return chart represents the fifth personal month (i.e. May) of your personal year. The cusps of the houses represent the starting dates of your personal months. These dates differ according to the birth-date of each individual. For example, if you were born on the 12th of August, then your 5th house personal month would begin on the 12th of May because you were born on the 12th. For the same reason, the cusp of the 6th house of your solar return chart would represent the 12th of June. And so on. Your personal year begins at the cusp of the house/month of your birth. In our example, that would be the cusp of the 8th house representing the 12th of August.
An Aries Equinox chart can be read in precisely the same way. The start date of the Aries Equinox year is 21st March. The 'houses' of the Aries Equinox chart are based on the number sequence of the signs. The Equinoctial year begins at the cusp of the symbolic 3rd house of the Aries Equinox chart (which coincides with Gemini—the third sign of the zodiac). (See the image below.)
The commencement date of each house-month is the 21st of the month. So for example, in the chart above, the 9th house corresponds with the period 21st September to 21st October, 2011.
Because the 9th house is our current period of focus, I'll use some current world events to demonstrate the way that the nature of the houses (and their ruling planets) are expressive of actual events in the mundane world.
The 9th house embodies and reflects the energy of the sign Sagittarius. The 9th house Sagittarius archetype is especially characterized by international events. The ruler of Sagittarius is the planet Jupiter. Jupiter is located in the 1st house Aries, and is opposed by Saturn and the Moon in Libra in the 7th house. The opposition is squared by Pluto in the 10th house Capricorn.
These archetypes began to be expressed very dramatically within the forum of the United Nations on the 23rd September, 2011 (i.e. two days after our entry into the 9th house of the Aries Equinox chart). On that day the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, asked the general assembly to recognize the independent sovereignty of the state of Palestine. News Link His presentation (representing an expression of the will of the Palestinian people) is symbolized by Jupiter in the 1st house Aries. The opposition by the USA and Israel (etc) to his political/diplomatic request is symbolized by the opposition (to Jupiter) of Saturn and the Moon in the 7th house Libra. The Saturn-Moon conjunction represents the conservative fears and insecurities of the ruling power brokers within the United Nations. The conjunction also symbolizes (in particular) the threat of veto by the USA if the issue makes it to the United Nations Security Council.
The 9th house Sagittarius and Jupiter archetypes also represent the realm of knowledge and education. And interestingly we also saw (on the 23rd September) the release of new scientific research that announced the discovery of atomic particles that travel faster than the speed of light. News Link Significantly, this new research threatens to undermine the foundation of modern physics—a foundation that Albert Einstein established with his Special Theory of Relativity. Of course, the established scientific community (as symbolized by the Saturn Moon opposition to Jupiter in the Aries Equinox chart) are likely to offer great resistance to these revolutionary findings.
Update [4th October, 2011]: Important international and high-profile legal cases also fall into the domain of the Aries Equinox chart 9th house. For example, during this period we are seeing the trial of Michael Jackson's personal physician. He's charged with the manslaughter of Michael Jackson. Also, today has seen the over-turning in the Italian courts of a murder conviction against Amanda Knox (an American citizen) who has spent the last four years in prison (part a 26 year sentence). And, in Australia we're seeing an unprecedented class-action law-suit against the ANZ bank by 36,000 of its customers. If the verdict is found in the customers' favor then it will open the way for all the other major Australian banks to be taken to court over the same issue (i.e. excessive fees, charges, and penalties).
Notice that in the 10th house of the Aries Equinox chart great pressure is being applied by Pluto in Capricorn to resolve the Saturn/Moon opposition to Jupiter. It will be very interesting to see the results of this evolutionary pressure.
This brings us to our examination of the upcoming 10th house period of the Aries Equinox chart—beginning on the 21st October and ending on the 21st November, 2011. I expect this period to be quite spectacular and powerful.
The dominant planet during the period will be Pluto, but the influence of Saturn will also be highlighted because it rules the 10th house Capricorn. It's interesting to also note that this period is the lead-up to a solar eclipse occurring on the 25th November, 2011. The eclipse occurs at 2° Sagittarius which coincidently corresponds to 23rd September, 2011 (on the date-wheel of the Aries Equinox chart). This is, of course, the date that Mahmoud Abbas made his presentation to the United Nations. [Note: The 23rd September date is derived when you take 0° Sagittarius as the 21st September. Then 2° Sagittarius is reckoned as two days following that date. See the chart image above.] The Sabian Symbol for 2° Sagittarius is "Two men playing chess".
Potentially, Pluto in the 10th house Capricorn represents a strong expression of executive or governmental power. It also indicates the possibility of radical change in some governing power structures, and perhaps also the geological structure of the Earth. It's something to keep an eye on, as is the experimental date 27th-28th October, 2011. This date is associated with the position of Pluto in the 2011 Aries Equinox chart. In the 2010 Aries Equinox chart Pluto was located at 5°Capricorn20'. That placement corresponded to the date 25th-26th October, 2010, and during those days we saw the Sumatra earthquake and tsunami. Here's a BBC News Link.
Update [21st October, 2011]: Colonel Gaddafi was captured and killed today, 21st October, 2011 (Eastern Australia Time). This date corresponds with the MC (10th house cusp) of the 2011 Aries Equinox chart (i.e. at 00° Capricorn). It marks the beginning of the Aries Equinox 10th house one month period—i.e. during which there's an emphasis on 'regime change' (or significant change at the top of existing power structures). It's interesting to note that the Sun/Uranus conjunction at 00° Aries is exactly square to the 00° Capricorn 10th house cusp (or MC) of the Equinox chart. In this instance, the square symbolizes the force of the people of Libya focused strongly against Gaddafi (and violently ending his rule as leader of the old regime).
