Dedicate to three special young women in my life, Karen, Cheryl and Patricia.
If you were to visit my home, you would invariably be greeted with, "would you like a cup of coffee?" So sit down and let's just share a coffee, while I tell you a bit about myself. My Story begins at a time when Australia was war and my Father was serving in the army. One week after Dad returned from serving in The Middle East, he and Mum were married, Anzac Day April 25th 1941 at the Grote Street Church of Christ in Adelaide.
After a weeks honeymoon, Dad was transferred to Sydney, New South Wales to the Holdsworthy Army Barracks. Dad found a house nearby and three weeks later Mum travelled by train to join him. On December 26th 1943, a little bundle of something joined them, by the way of me!
And so begins my story. A story of hope in the face of adversity, a story that had it not been for such devoted parents could have been so different. It is because of their devotion and firm belief in me, in my early years that I have achieved anything in life. Each one played their part.
Mum, the firm disciplinary who 'MADE' me 'DO' and unbeknown to me, cried buckets of tears behind the scenes because she was having to be so hard on me. Dad, who encouraged me to believe in myself, set goals and learn at least one new thing every day of my life, in order to "use my brain power". So I dedicate this story to Frederick William and Evelyn Amy Cooper. To Mum and Dad, from your ever grateful daughter, Roslyn Gay.
