Here is a little about the region where we live...
The Riverland region of South Australia is approximately 220 kilometres north east of the states capital city, Adelaide.
The Riverland comprises of five main towns, Berri where we live, Barmera, Renmark, Waikerie and Loxton.
There are several smaller towns as well. Berri has become known as the Major town as it is where all the Government offices are and well, need I say it...we live here! LOL
The largest river in Australia, the River Murray, flows between Loxton and the other main towns. Until 1997 people used to have to cross the river via one of two ferries at Berri. Now we have a bridge which saves a lot of time as we do not have to wait for a ferry. There is still ferries running in other towns up and down the river.
Berri has a population of around 7000. The main industry is the production of wine and fruit juice. As well as citrus and stone fruit being grown in large quantities and exported.
