Spent time updating and reconstructing the Text Version of the web site. Endeavored to make it as accessible as possible, in conformance to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

Cooinda Online website has moved. Be sure to bookmark
the new URL when you next visit the site. Also, remember to refresh the

December 2003.
A few months ago, we changed our Internet access from
dialup to Broadband. As a result we now have
5 MB to 30 MB of available web space. Since we hade two
dialup accounts cooindaonline and gerros, with 5 MB web space each. We
decided to close our gerros account and combine both web sites under the
cooindaonline account.
I am currently in the process of combining the Cooinda Online and McKearney's Pages into one website. Each will retain it's individual look and identity and will hopefully be as familiar to navigate as before.
One major change is the introduction of God-Abled Ministries as a separate identity, where as it was previously incorporated as a part McKearney Pages.
As this is quite an involved project, there may be some
broken links. Please be patient, it is all part of my revamping and I am
working on the problem as fast as possible.
March 2003.
On Friday 14th 2003, Cooinda BBS will be closed down and from now on Cooinda Computer Club will be entirely Internet based.
It is six years since the Dialup BBS went online, March 20th 1997. Unfortunately, we have not been able to bring enough people meeting together on a regular basis, in order for Cooinda Computer Club to become an incorporated body. Therefore, we have not been in a position to apply for funding. Now we have the added problem of having to be insured, in order to hold meetings, which is out of the question.
This is a sad time for both Gerard and myself as we have both spent many hours working on the BBS in the last six years. However, we see this as a progression and the next step.
Gerard and I wish to thank those who have supported the BBS and we hope you will come with us and join us on the Internet at:
I have somewhat revamped the Cooinda Online web site and set up an area to replace the BBS. The new area will known as Cooinda Online Community.
I have made other significant changes to the Cooinda Online Website recently. Including making three extra sub areas to the site, each with there own index. This has enabled me to reduce the index menu across the top of every screen. I hope it will make it easier to navigate.
I have added a new area and titled it 'Newbie Helps'. This comprises all the old pages - Beginners Guide, Programs, Book List and Book Reviews as well as Email, Newsgroups, Chat Rooms, Virus' and Games. These are all together and the index can be accessed from the Home Page. I have culled out all the now dead links and redirected any links that had been moved on other web sites. I have also included the Newbie Links, previously featured Sites of the Week. Each subject now has the sub-headings - South Australian, Australian and International.
The Disability Links have all been place together and have there own Index as well. Independent Living/Advocacy Links, Medical Health, Carer's Links, Entertainment/Educational Disability Links, Australian Government Links.
These have also been checked for dead links and links that have been moved. All disability and chronic illness related links, previously listed as Previous Sites of the Week, have been included. Again, each subject has sub-headings included - South Australian, Australian and International and can be accessed at:

My apologies for not sending out
a Newsletter for so long. In order to be more proficient in my duties
as Co-Sysop of Cooinda BBS, Co-Facilitator
of Cooinda Computer Club, Webmaster of Cooinda Online and McKearney's Pages
web sites, I have decided to cut back on a couple of areas.
1. There will not be Newsletters as such, in the future. Instead I will send out updates, whenever I make changes or additions to Cooinda Online and McKearney's Pages.
2. In order to cut down on the many
hours I spend 'surfing the net', looking for suitable web sites for
The Web Site of the Week feature,
I will from now on be choosing a Web Site of the Month. This will be added
at the beginning of each month.
October 2001.
Well, I have news I did not expect to be having to tell.
Cooinda Online web site is moving. Our ISP,
Asia Online sent notification late last Friday night,
they are in liquidation and as of November 8th,
will not be available for dialup access.
Gerard and I spent the weekend searching for an ISP that
would suit our needs. Not fun, since there
is very limited and only very expensive access in the
Riverland. We finally settled for OzEmail. They
are a large Australia wide company, who have been around
since 1994 and most importantly, they
have a dialup Hub in Loxton. (Loxton, for those who do
not know, is a Riverland town situated on the opposite side of the Murray
River, to where we live in Berri.)
There were other ISP's with much better deals but with
no Hub any where near us, which would have meant expensive modem calls.
We finally settled on two accounts intead of one, in order to maintain
our download level and amount web space. Having settled
the question of a suitable ISP, I am now attempting to upload the website/s.
My end is ready to go.
Prior to the sudden diversion, I did a complete overhaul
of what was one website. Changed the background to a computer related one,
in the Computer Club and BBS pages. Amazing what you
find when you are not looking for it. I searched for
ages when I was setting up and could find very
little in the way of computer backgrounds and nothing
suitable for being able to read off of. However,
I recently found a heap of backgrounds and even one suitable
to use. I have added them all to the Cooinda Computer Club Clipart area,
under backgrounds.
I have added a link on every page, leading to the Text
Homepage
July 2001.
Added a Chatroom. It is very basic
and accessible, in that it does not require a special program on PC's or
Java. It tends to appear a little 'dinky' for those used to other programs.
However, I will use it at this stage as I really want people to be able
to access chat as easily as possible. I think it will be quite a
fun experience, once people get
the hang of it.
Another addition is a Forum. There
are two topics. The first, where you can ask the simplest questions and
not feel you will be laughed out of town. Remember this website is geared
towards beginner's and
we were all beginner's at some
stage. The second involving anything relating to disAbility issues.
Also added a Site of the Week feature.
Each Monday there will be another web site of the week to visit. These
web sites of interest to people with a disability and/or chronic illness
and will vary in subject
matter but will fit the overall
theme and content of Cooinda Online.
