Email Tips D1 - How Email is Sent
How Email is Sent

A picture is worth a thousand words!

One on One Email Interaction.

Email lists send one message simultaneously to a group of people.

Mail is sent by the Subscribers to the List - Mail is sent out by Listserv to Subscribers - Mail is sent by the Subscribers to the List - Mail is sent out by Listserv to Subscribers.

- Subscribers interact among each other through discussion lists.

These pictures were found at the LISTSERV web site.  I have been given permission to use these excellent graphics, which explain so simply how sending an email happens. For more details visit the LISTSERV web site. Actually, you will learn quite alot about the subject of Email and Lists while you are there.  It's a bit high brow for a 'newbie' but well worth a visit.

This is another example!

*Discussion Groups
"Discussion groups or lists allow for ongoing discussions among members, with or without moderation. These types of lists are most commonly used for internal communication within an organization or group of people. Unlike a one-way list, a discussion list not only allows but encourages interaction among members who are part of the group. Every member can write to the group, and in doing so, everyone will receive a copy of the message."
