Clean air, clean water, green landscape, peaceful, no crime and great characters who both live here and visit. An outback feel with lots of activities yet only a 90 minute drive to the international airport at Cairns. Close to Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation and start point to the world renown dawn river trip run by Chris Dahlberg and Denise Collins since 1992. Cost effective, Daintree accommodation options from camping to self catering cabins to holiday homes and B & B's most at realistic prices. In the village, three restaurants cater for visitors during the day and two for overnight guests. The general store can provide a cold beer or a postage stamp and many items in between. Quaint little shops, that don't have American Express, but have real artifacts that change hands for a handful of coins. There is a timber gallery and plenty of car parking that you don't have to pay for. Daintree is deliciously backward and unpretentious.
