Leaving the guest house, I followed the valley to the coast then started the most strenuous part of my journey, the
road to Laver's Hill. The name gives it away, it is at the top of a 550m high climb. I did stop once on the climb,
telling myself that I was just stopping to look at the view, but the truth is I was knackered. I finally made it to
the top and rewarded myself with morning tea in the bakery.
The upside of every hill is that there is a downside. The road from Laver's Hill down to the coast was great fun with
steep descents and windy roads. My maximum speed was about 65kmh, but I had to slow down for many of the curves. On
reaching the coast, the road left the forests for relatively flat farmlands.
