Beau Rides the Great Ocean Road

Lookout at Mount Defiance

Day 3 - Lorne to Glenaire (cont'd)

Along the way I passed a number of little settlements like Wye River, which comprised a beach, a shop, a caravan park and a couple of houses where the river meets the sea. For much of the rest of this section there was no beach, just cliffs falling to the sea. The road climbed and descended sharply between the settlements and twisted as it hugged the cliffs.

There was a lot of traffic which was especially noticeable on the narrow road. Whilst I enjoyed riding, I would recommend to other cyclists that the road be avoided in school holidays. To top it all off, I had a headwind for most of the way to Apollo Bay.
