SWINGFONIA jazz choir formed in June 2011, to the thrill of many in the community who love jazz music.

As the name SWINGFONIA suggests, we perform music mainly from the jazz swing era, including some latin, blues, funk, some originals by me, and some jazz fusion.  All arrangements are written by me, in 4-part harmony (soprano, double alto, baritone), to accommodate the range of people's everyday voices, so the music is comfortable and enjoyable to sing.

Watch a recording of my original composition Anything You Say on YouTube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIhLblUZdhA

SWINGFONIA had a blast at the recent 2012 Coffs Harbour Regional Eisteddfod, where the group was award 1st place in the Open "Choral Section.  The adjudicator loved how we engaged and involved the audience with our infectious enthusiasm!

Comments from our L.O.V.E Show at Sawtell RSL:
"My family and I really enjoyed it.  I cried at Over The Rainbow."
"Your compositions are exquisite - I cried at It's Raining Now You're Gone."
"We loved every single thing you did!"
"The ensemble is good enough to sing anywhere in the world!"
"I enjoyed the show and came home uplifted."

Comments from our other shows:
"The feedback on your performance has been excellent"
"Really impressed, Mei.  Your choir is very tight - great sound!"
"Loved the performance of you all at the Botanic Gardens, we are so lucky to have so much talent at Coffs Harbour"
"... exceeded any possible expectations"
"thank you and Swingfonia for a great night."

2013 GIGS
Sunday 1 December - SWINGFONIA jazz show, Auditorium, C.ex Coffs

Our Smokin' Hot Jazz show in the C.ex Coffs Auditorium (Sunday 13 November 2011) blew the
350-strong audience away!

We received a standing ovation (rarely seen in Coffs!) by non-related members of the crowd, who were so excited that they felt the need to show their appreciation somehow!

Reuben Fox's kindly-donated brand new Bernstein grand piano added to the spectacular event!

We were thrilled to present our own gig at the First Avenue Cinema in Sawtell on 1st September 2011!

It's Raining Now You're Gone.mp3 (748KB)

This evening featured our swingin' choir, as well as some sultry and snappy solos, and smokin' hot piano solos by me.  You will have heard some of the most famous jazz tunes ever written for voice or piano!

This choir was originally a short-term project, created specifically to perform at this year's Bellingen Jazz Festival.

We performed to a capacity crowd on Sunday 21 August 2011, in the Butter Factory Marquee.
