Written for PSP X2

 

Skill level: Intermediate

 

Plugins Needed:

Simple Plugins - Top Left Mirror 

Available here

Filters Unlimited - Pattern Generators

Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow

FM Tile Tools - Available here

 

Supplies Needed:

1 Graphic - Width 400 X Height 300 pixels 

1 Gold or Silver pattern 

 

  

Preparation:

Install plugins, if needed.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same,

unless new or revised settings

are given.

  
 

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin

 

Frame:

1.  File > Open

Open graphic of choice.

 

2.  Window > Duplicate (Shift+D)

Close orginal

 

3. Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Smart Size

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Width = 400 pixels

Height = 300 pixels

*Note - Your image must be

Width 400 X Height 300 pixels.

If you prefer to use the crop tool,

The exact dimensions to crop is 

Width 400 X Height 300 pixels.

 

4. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

5. Dropper Tool

Left click and select a light color

for your Foreground color.

Right click and select a dark color

for your Background color.

 

6. Materials Palette

Set your Foreground to a Gold

or Silver Pattern

Settings:

Angle = 0

Scale = 100

 

7. Selections > Select All

 

8. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

9. Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout

Settings:

Vertical = 0

Horizontal = 0

Opacity = 80

Blur = 30

Shadow color = Black

Fill interior with color = Not Checked

 

10. Layers > Merge > Merge Down

 

11. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Symmetric = Checked

Size in pixels = 1

Color = Your dark color

 

12. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 5

Color = Your light color

 

13. Magic Wand Tool

Settings:

Mode = Replace

Match mode = RGB Value

Tolerance = 0

Use all layers = Unchecked

Contiguous = Checked

Feather = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Outside = Selected

Select 5 pixel border

 

14. Flood Fill Tool

 Settings: 

Match mode = None

Use all layers = Not Checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Left click to fill selection with

your Gold or Silver pattern

 

15. Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

Settings:

Bevel = Bevel # 2

Width = 5

Smoothness = 15

Depth = 3

Ambience = 0

Shininess = 40

Color = White

Angle = 315

Intensity = 35

Elevation = 40

 

16. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

17. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 1

Color = Your dark color

 

18. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 15

Color = Your light color

 

19. Magic Wand Tool

Select 15 pixel border

 

20. Effects > Plugins > I.C.NET Software >

Filters Unlimited 2.0 > Pattern Generators >

Tangent Pattern (seamless)

Settings:

(Default)

Variation 1 = 181

Variation 2 = 180

Red = 107

Green = 107

Blue = 109

 

21. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

22. Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill border with your dark color

 

23. Layers Palette

Reduce opacity to 40

 

24. Layers > Merge > Merge Down

 

25. Effects > Plugins > FM Tile Tools >

Blend Emboss

Settings:

(Default)

horiz. Offset = -1000

Vert. Offset = -1000

Intensity = 0.250

Gray Level = 64

Red Blend = 0.938

Green Blend = 0.938

Blue Blend = 0.938

Edge Wrap = Checked

 

26. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 1

Color = Your dark color

 

27. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 5

Color = Your light color

 

28. Magic Wand Tool

Select 5 pixel border

 

29. Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill selection with

your Gold or Silver pattern

 

30. Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

 

31. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

32. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 1

Color = Your dark color

 

33. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 20

Color = Your light color

 

34. Magic Wand Tool

Select 20 pixel border

 

35. Effects > Plugins > I.C.NET Software >

Filters Unlimited 2.0 > Pattern Generators >

Tangent Pattern (seamless)

 

36. Effects > Plugins >

Settings:

(Default)

Diagonal = 50

Center = 50

Horizontal = 50

Diagonal = 50

Horizontal = 50

Vertical = 50

Intensity = 128

Lightness = 128

 

37. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

38.  Materials Palette

Swap your Foreground

and Background layers around by

clicking on the small upper arrows.

*Note - Your Background should

now be your light color

 

39. Flood Fill Tool

Right  click to fill selection with

your light color

 

40. Layers Palette

Reduce opacity to 50

 

41. Layers > Merge > Merge Down

 

42. Effects > Plugins > FM Tile Tools >

Blend Emboss

 

43. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 1

Color = Your dark color

 

44. Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 5

Color = Your light color

Size in pixels = 5

Color = Your light color

66. Edit Copy

 

67. Edit > Paste As New image

*Note - You may need this image

later in the tutorial.

 

68. Activate working canvas

 

69. Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 37

Left = 37

Right = 124

Bottom = 124

 

70. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

71. Edit > Paste Into Selection

*Note - The little square we pasted earlier

should be on your clipboard. 

If not, activate the square and

Edit > Copy, then proceed with Step 71.

 

72. Image > Mirror

 

73. Image > Flip

 

74. Selections > Select None

 

75. Effects > Plugins > Simple > Top Left Mirror

 

76. Layers > Merge > Merge Down

 

77. Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 5

Left = 5

Right = 92

Bottom = 92

 

78. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

79. Edit > Paste Into Selection

*Note - The little square we pasted earlier

should be on your clipboard. 

If not, activate the square and

Edit > Copy, then proceed with Step 79.

 

80. Image > Mirror

 

81. Image > Flip

 

82. Selections > Select None

 

83. Effects > Plugins > Simple > Top Left Mirror

 

84. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

85. Add your watermark

 

86. Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

87. File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Settings:

Set compression value to 10-15,

or to your preferred compression

 

*Note - Do not close Frame.

 

Background & Side Bar:

 

*Note - Still working with your Frame image.

 

1. Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 150

Left = 0

Right = 86

Bottom = 324

 

2. Edit > Copy

 

3. Edit > Paste As New Image

 

4. Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Edge = Checked

Vertical = Checked

Width = 50

Transition = 50

 

5. Image > Canvas Size

Settings: 

Width = 1800 pixels ( or preferred width)

Height = 174 pixels

Lock aspect ratio = Unchecked

Placement = Left center arrow

 

6. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 0 

Horizontal = 0

Opacity = 60

Blur = 15

Shadow on new layer = Checked

 

7. Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

 *Note - Only the drop shadow will be tiled.

 

8. Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

9. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

10. Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

11. Materials Palette

Swap your Foreground

and Background layers around by

clicking on the small upper arrows.

*Note - Your Background should

now be your light color

 

12. Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill layer with

your light color

 

13. Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Width = 3

Opacity = 20

Color = Your dark color

Horizontal = Not Checked

Light from left/top = Checked

 

14. Layers > New Raster Layer

 

15. Flood Fill Tool

 Right click to fill layer with

your light color

 

16. Layers Palette

Reduce opacity to 30

 

17. File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Settings:

Set compression value to 15,

or to your preferred compression

 

All finished !! You're now ready to

assemble for Incredimail or

Outlook Express.
