Simple Flux Side Bar

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

  

Supplies Needed:  

A tube of your choice

I used the lovely artwork of

Caron Vinson, you need a license

from CILM to use her work.

Please do not use her work without

the correct licence.

 

Plugin - DSB Flux (here

Preparation:

Install filter, if necessary.

 

Performance Notes: 

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

 

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin :)

1) File > Open 

Open tube of choice

 

2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

 

3) Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Smart Size

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Width = No wider than 200 Pixels

Height = No higher than 350 Pixels

 

*Optional

Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

  

4) Dropper Tool (E)

Left click on your tube to pick a 

light color for your Foreground and

right click to pick a dark color for

your Background

 

5) Edit > Copy

 

6) File > New

Settings:

Width = 300 Pixels

Height = 400 Pixels

Raster Background = Checked

Transparent = Checked

 

7) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Left click to fill with Light color

 

8) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Settings:

Gaussian = Checked

Noise = 15

Monochrome = Checked

 

9) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

 

10) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Default

 

11) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

12) Effects > Plugins > dsb flux > Tiler

Settings:

Width = 50

Height = 22

X Offset = 82

Y Offset = 75

 

13) Selection Tool

Settings:

Selection type = Rectangle

Mode = Replace

Feather = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Holding down your left mouse button, select

the middle part of the image so that you

select the center section with the lines

 

14) Flood Fill Tool

Fill with your Light or Dark color

*Note: If not using  PSP 9 you may need to

add a new Raster Layer before you fill

 

15) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

 

16) Selections > Select None

 

17) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Edge = Checked

Vertical = Checked

Width = 50

Transition = 50

 

18) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

Your tube

 

19) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 2

Horizontal = 2

Opacity = 80

Blur = 5.00

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = Not checked

*Note: Don't add drop shadow to a

misted tube. You may also wish to use

your own setting

 

*Optional

You may like to add Text and Inner bevel

if desired

 

20) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

21) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 1280 Pixels (or preferred size)

Height = 400 Pixels

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

22) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 1

Horizontal = 1

Opacity = 100

Blur = 10.00

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = Checked

 

23) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

 

24) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

25) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

26) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with your Light color

 

27) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

 

28) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

29) Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top

 

30) Add Watermark

 

31) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 

Settings: 

Compression value set at 20 - 25

 

All finished!! You're now ready to

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook

Express.
