Noisy Shapes Frame & SB

any resemblance to another

tutorial is purely coincidental.

 

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

  

Supplies Needed:  

A graphic of your choice

(Square is best)

 

Gold or Silver pattern (both here)

 

Mask: Noisy Shapes_mg (here)

 

Preparation:

Unzip mask and chosen pattern;

open in PSP and minimize.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin :)

 

Frame

 

1) Materials Palette

Set your Background to Pattern

Settings:

Pattern = Gold.jpg or Silver.jpg

Angle = 0

Scale = 100

Texture = Not checked

 

2) File > Open 

Open image of choice

 

3) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

  

4) Dropper Tool (E)

Left click on your image to pick 

a medium to dark color for your

Foreground.

 

5) Edit > Copy

 

6) File > New

Settings:

Width = 400 Pixels

Height = 400 Pixels

Raster Background = Checked

Transparent = Checked

 

7) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Right click to fill with Gold or Silver Pattern

 

8) Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image

Settings:

Source window = Noisy Shapes_mg

Create mask from = Source luminance

Invert mask data = Checked

 

9) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

 

10) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

Settings:

Bevel = 2

Width = 8

Smoothness = 16

Depth = 2

Ambience = 0

Shininess = 0

Color = White

Angle = 315

Intensity = 50

Elevation = 30

 

11) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

12) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 1

Horizontal = 1

Opacity = 80

Blur = 0

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = Not checked

 

13) Magic Wand Tool

Settings:

Mode = Replace

Match mode = RGB Value

Tolerance = 0

Sample merged = Unchecked

Contiguous = Checked

Feather = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Outside = Selected

Select the square in the middle

 

14) Selections > Modify > Expand

Settings:

Number of pixels = 6

 

15) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

16) Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection

 

17) Selections > Select None

 

18) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

19) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

20) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

21) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with medium to dark color

 

22) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Settings:

Gaussian = Checked

Noise = 15

Monochrome = Checked

 

23) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

24) Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top

 

25) Add Watermark

 

26) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

27) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 

Settings: 

Compression value set at 25

 

*Note - Do not close header

 

Background

 

*Note - Still working with your header image

 

1) Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 100

Left = 0

Right = 28

Bottom = 300

 

2) Edit > Copy 

 

3) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Image

 

4) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Width = 56

Height = 200

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

5) Layers > Duplicate

 

6) Image > Mirror

 

7) Layers > Merge > Merge Down

 

8) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Corner = Checked

Vertical = Checked

Vertical offset = 0

Transition = 50

 

9) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Width = 110

Height = 200

Placement = Center

 

10) Activate your frame image again

 

11) Selections > Select None

 

12) Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Smart Size

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Width & Height = 50 Percent (%)

 

13) Edit > Repeat Resize

 

14) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

15) Edit > Copy

 

16) Activate your Background image again

 

17) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

 

18) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Width = 1280 (or preferred size)

Height = 200

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

19) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

20) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

21) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with medium to dark color

 

22) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise 

 

23) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

 

All finished!!  You're now ready to 

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook
