Masked Blinds Side Border

This tutorial is my own creation,

any resemblance to another

tutorial is purely coincidental.

 

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

  

Supplies Needed:  

A tube of your choice

Mask: Masked Blinds_mg.jpg (Here)

  

Preparation:

Unzip mask and open in 

PSP and minimize.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

 

Let's begin :)

 

Frame

 

1) File > Open 

Open tube of choice

  

2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

  

3) Dropper Tool (E)

Left click on your image to pick 

light color for your Foreground and

right click to pick a dark color for

your Background

 

4) Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Smart Size

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Width = No wider than 220 Pixels

Height = No higher than 290 Pixels

 

*Optional

Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

5) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Minimize for now

 

*Working on the other tube

 

6) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Default Setting

 

7) Edit > Copy

(Close tube)

 

8) File > New

Settings:

Width = 300 Pixels

Height = 300 Pixels

Raster Background = Selected

Transparent = Selected

 

9) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not Checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Left click to fill with light color

 

10) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

11) Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill with dark color

 

12) Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image

Settings:

Source window = Masked Blinds_mg.jpg

Create mask from = Source luminance

Invert mask data = Not checked

 

13) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

 

14) Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 0

Left = 40

Right = 260

Bottom = 300

 

15) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

16) Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection

 

17) Selections > Select None

 

18) Layers Palette

Lower opacity of top layer to 20

 

19) Activate your tube we minimized earlier

 

20) Edit > Copy

 

21) Activate your Background image again 

 

22) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

 

23) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 1

Horizontal = 1

Opacity = 80

Blur = 5

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = Not checked

*Note: Don't add drop shadow to a

misted tube.

 

24) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 1280 (or preferred size)

Height = 300

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

25) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

26) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

27) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with light color

 

28) Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Width = 3

Opacity = 40

Color = Your dark color

Horizontal = Unchecked

Light from left/top = Checked

 

29) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

30) Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top

 

31) Add Watermark

 

32) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 

Settings: 

Compression value set at 20

 

All finished!!  You're now ready to 

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook
