Jigsaw Puzzle Two & SB

any resemblance to another

tutorial is purely coincidental.

 

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

  

Supplies Needed:  

A graphic of your choice

(Not a dark graphic)

*Note: You will be pasting this graphic

into a selection of 500 x 400 pixels.

 

Mask: puzzle.jpg (here)

 

Preparation:

Unzip mask and open in 

PSP and minimize.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

 

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin :)

 

Frame

 

1) File > Open 

Open image of choice

 

2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

  

3) Dropper Tool (E)

Left click on your image to pick 

a nice color for your Foreground 

Choose Black for your Background

 

4) Edit > Copy

 

5) File > New

Settings:

Width = 500 Pixels

Height = 400 Pixels

Raster Background = Checked

Transparent = Checked

 

6) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not Checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Left click to fill with Foreground color

 

7) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

Settings:

Gaussian = Checked

Noise = 15

Monochrome = Checked

 

8) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

9) Selections > Select All

 

10) Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection

 

11) Selections > Select None

 

12) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

13) Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill with Black

 

14) Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image

Settings:

Source window = puzzle.jpg

Create mask from = Source luminance

Invert mask data = Checked

 

15) Layers > Merge > Merge Group

 

16) Layers Palette

Lower opacity of top layer to 60 or

to your preference

 

17) Magic Wand Tool

Settings:

Mode = Add (Shift)

Match mode = Opacity

Tolerance = 30

Sample merged = Unchecked

Contiguous = Checked

Feather = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Outside = Selected

Select all of the pieces in the first

2 rows and, if desired, also select

some extra pieces from the 3rd row.

Be careful to select each puzzle piece

by clicking in the center of each piece.

 

 

18) Selections > Modify > Expand

Settings:

Number of pixels = 5

 

19) Edit > Copy Merged

 

20) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Image

(Minimize)

This will be your side border later

 

21) Selections > Select None

 

22) Magic Wand Tool

Select 2 Puzzle pieces in the middle

 

23) Selections > Modify > Expand

Settings:

Number of pixels = 2

 

24) Edit > Copy Merged

 

25) Edit > Paste As New Image

 

26) Activate your Puzzle Image Again

 

27) Activate your middle layer (Raster 2)

 

28) Hit the delete key on your keyboard

 

29) Selections > Select None

 

30) Activate your top layer

 

31) Activate the 2 puzzle

pieces we copied earlier

 

32) Selection Tool > Freehand Selection

Settings:

Selection type = Freehand

Mode = Replace

Feather = 0

Smoothing = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Draw around one of your puzzle pieces

 

33) Edit > Copy

 

34) Activate your Puzzle image

 

35) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

 

36) Image > Rotate > Free Rotate

Settings:

Direction = Left or right

Free = Checked

Degrees = 20.00

All Layers = Not checked

Rotate single layer around canvas

center = Not checked

 

37) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 2

Horizontal = 2

Opacity = 100

Blur = 5

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = Not checked

 

38) Move Tool

Move your Puzzle piece next to the

spot it belongs

 

39) Activate the 2 puzzle pieces

 

40) Selection Tool > Freehand Selection

Draw around the other puzzle piece

 

41) Edit > Copy

 

42) Activate Puzzle image again

 

43) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer

 

44) Image > Rotate > Free Rotate

Settings:

Direction = Left or right

 

45) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

 

46) Move Tool

Move your Puzzle piece next to the

spot it belongs

  

47) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

48) Add Watermark

 

49) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 

Settings: 

Compression value set at 25

 

*Close Image and 2 Puzzle pieces

 

Background

 

1) Activate your side border we made

in the begining

  

2) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 1280 (or preferred size)

Height = 400

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

3) Magic Wand Tool

Select the transparent part

 

4) Selections > Modify > Expand

 

5) Hit the delete key on the keyboard

 

6) Selections > Select None

 

7) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

 

8) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

9) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

10) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with Foreground color

 

11) Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise

 

12) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

 

All finished!!  You're now ready to 

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook
