Glass Penta Frame & SB

This tutorial is my own creation,

any resemblance to another

tutorial is purely coincidental.

 

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

Knowledge of using Filters necessary.

  

Supplies Needed:  

A graphic of your choice

(Wider than tall is best)

 

<I.C.NET Software> Filters Unlimited 2.0 (here)

Simple > Top Left Mirror (here)

Simple > Diamonds (here)

penta.com > Dot and Cross (here)

 

Preparation:

Install filters, if necessary.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin :)

 

Frame

 

1) File > Open 

Open image of choice

 

2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

 

3) Layers > Merge > Merge All (Flatten)

(If needed)

 

4) Dropper Tool (E)

Left click in image to choose

a light Foreground color

and right click in image to choose

a dark Background color

 

5) Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Bicubic

Resize all layers = Checked

Lock aspect ratio = Checked 

Width = will self adjust

Height = 350 Pixels

 

6) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

(If needed)

 

7) Selections > Select All

 

8) Effects > 3D Effects > Cutout

Settings:

Vertical & Horizontal = 0

Opacity = 100

Blur = 15

Color = black

Fill interior with color = Unchecked

  

9) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Symmetric = checked

Size in pixels = 3

Color = Your dark color

 

10) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 20

Color = Your light color

 

11) Magic Wand Tool

Settings:

Mode = Replace

Match mode = RGB Value

Tolerance = 0

Use all layers = Unchecked

Contiguous = Checked

Feather = 0

Anti-alias = Checked

Outside = Selected

Select border

 

12) Effects > Plugins > penta.com >

Dot and Cross

Settings:

amount = 128

cross distance = 8

cross width = 2

 

13) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 3

Color = Your dark color

 

14) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 30

Color = Your light color

 

15) Magic Wand

Select Border

 

16) Effects > Plugins > penta.com >

Dot and Cross

 

17) Effects > Plugins > Simple >

Diamonds

 

18) Effects > Plugins > Simple >

Top Left Mirror

 

19) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 3

Color = Your dark color

 

20) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 20

Color = Your light color

 

21) Magic Wand

Select Border

 

22) Effects > Plugins > penta.com >

Dot and Cross

 

23) Selections > Select None

 

24) Image > Add Borders

Settings:

Size in pixels = 3

Color = Your dark color

 

25) Effects > Plugins > <I.C.NET Software> >

Filters Unlimited 2.0 > Buttons & Frames >

Glass Frame 2

Settings:

Frame Size = 64

Contrast = 75

 

26) Image > Resize

Settings:

Resample using = Bicubic

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Width = will self adjust

Height = 500

 

27) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

(If needed)

 

28) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

29) Add Watermark

 

30) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

31) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 

Settings: 

Compression value set at 25

 

*Note - Do not close header

 

Background

 

*Note - Still working with your header image

 

1) Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 80

Left = 0

Right = 80

Bottom = 420

 

2) Edit > Copy

(Close frame now) 

 

3) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Image

 

4) Effects > Image Effects >

Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Edge = checked

Vertical = checked

Width = 50

Transition = 50

 

5) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Width = 1280 (or preferred size)

Height = 340

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

6) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

7) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

8) Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not Checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Left click to fill with light color

 

9) Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Width = 4

Opacity = 35

Color = Your dark color

Horizontal = Unchecked

Light from left top = Checked

  

10) Layers Palette

Lower opacity of background layer

to 80 or your preference

 

11) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

 

All finished!!  You're now ready to 

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook
