Curlicues Frame & SB

any resemblance to another

tutorial is purely coincidental.

 

Written for PSP 9

 

Skill Level = Intermediate

  

Filters Needed:   

Simple > Top Left Mirror (here)

Simple > Diamonds (here)

Greg's Factory Output Vol.II > Pool Shadow (here)

 

 

Supplies Needed:   

Mask - !!!Mesh.msk (here)

 

A tube or mist of your choice

 

Preparation:

Install filters, if necessary.

Unzip mask into your mask folder.

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same unless

new settings are given.

Don't forget to save your work often.

 

 

Here is a arrow you can drag and drop when you

need to mark where you are. .
Just left click and drag to where you want it then let

go. It will stay where ever you put it, until you close

your browser.

 

Let's begin :)

 

Frame

 

1) File > Open 
Tube of choice
 
2) Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)
Close original
  
3) Dropper Tool (E)
Left click in image to choose
a light Foreground color
and right click in image to choose
a dark Background color
 
4) Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Smart Size
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Width = No wider than 400 Pixels
Height = No higher than 300 Pixels
 
5) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
(If needed)
 
6) Edit > Copy
  
7) File > New
Settings:
Width = 450 Pixels
Height = 400 Pixels
Raster Background = Selected
Transparent = Selected
 
8) Flood Fill Tool
Settings:
Match mode = None
Sample merged = Checked
Blend mode = Normal
Opacity = 100
Right click to fill with dark color
  
9) Layers > New Raster Layer
 
10) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to fill with light color
 
11) Layers > Load/Save Mask >
Load Mask From Disk
Settings:
Mask = !!!Mesh
Create mask from = Source luminance
Orientation = Fit to canvas
Invert transparency = Not checked
Show all mask = Checked
 
12) Layers > Merge > Merge Group
 
13) Effects > Distortion Effects > Curlicues
Settings:
Symmetric = Not checked
Number of columns = 10
Number of rows = 10
Radius = 100
Strength = 50
Clockwise = Not checked
 
14) Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
 
15) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer
 
16) Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 100
Blur = 10
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
*Note: Don't add drop shadow to a
misted tube.
  
17) Image > Add Borders 
Settings:
Symmetric = Checked
Size in pixels = 2
Color = Your dark color
 
18) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 10
Color = Your light color
 
19) Magic Wand Tool
Settings:
Mode = Replace
Match mode = RGB Value
Tolerance = 0
Sample merged = Not checked
Contiguous = Checked
Feather = 0
Anti-alias = Not checked
Outside = Selected
Select border
 
20) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Settings:
Bevel = 2
Width = 8
Smoothness = 4
Depth = 1
Ambience = 6
Shininess = 2
Color = White
Angle = 315
Intensity = 50
Elevation = 30
 
21) Effects > Plugins >

Settings:
Diagonal = 50
Center = 50
Horizontal = 50
Diagonal = 50

22) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 2
Color = Your dark color
 
*Note: we are going to make a pattern now
 
23) Selection Tool > Custom Selection
Settings:
Top = 18
Left = 18
Right = 100
Bottom = 100
 
24) Edit > Copy
 
25) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Image
 
26) Effects > Plugins > Simple > Diamonds
 
27) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Default Setting
 
28) Materials Palette
Set your Foreground to Pattern
Settings:
Pattern = Pattern you just created
Angle = 0
Scale = 100
Texture = Not checked
 
*Note: Now we are working on the frame again
 
29) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 30
Color = Your light color
 
30) Magic Wand Tool
Select border
 
31) Flood Fill Tool
Left click to fill with Pattern we just made
 
32) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
 
33) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 2
Color = Your dark color
 
34) Image > Add Borders
Settings:
Size in pixels = 10
Color = Your light color
 
35) Magic Wand Tool
Select border
 
36) Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
 
37) Effects > Plugins >

Settings:
Size in pixels = 2
Color = Your dark color
 
39) Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Top = 406
Left = 456

42) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer
 
43) Move Tool
Move it to the top left corner
look at my image for placement
 
44) Effects > Plugins > Simple > Top Left Mirror
 
45) Layers > New Raster Layer
 
46) Add Watermark
 
47) Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
 
48) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer 
Settings: 
Compression value set at 20 - 25
 
*Note - Do not close header

 

Background

 

*Note - Still working with your header image.

 

1) Selection Tool > Custom Selection

Settings:

Top = 150

Left = 0

Right = 58

Bottom = 350

 

2) Edit > Copy

(Close frame now) 

 

3) Edit > Paste > Paste As New Image

 

4) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

Settings:

Edge = checked

Vertical = checked

Width = 50

Transition = 50

 

5) Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Not checked

Width = 1280 (or preferred size)

Height = 200

Placement = Left middle arrow

 

6) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

7) Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

8) Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill with pattern

 

9) Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling

 

10) Layers > New Raster Layer

 

11) Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill with dark color

  

12) Layers Palette

Lower opacity of Background layer

to 50 or your preference

 

13) File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

 

All finished!!  You're now ready to 

assemble for Incredimail or Outlook
