Perhaps you don't accept
this 2nd definition as an accurate, ....'characterisation' ?
Yet this statement, made by a muslim

seems to endorse that exact characterisation...

these particular words in
Ezekiel 35, would
suggest
that this prophecy is intended for a time after
the people of Israel had been punished, by God, for their 'iniquity'.
What might signify that God's punishment of
Israel was at an end?

In Ezekiel 36,
God says Israel would be punished by being scattered and dispersed
among the heathen, but, now read Ezekiel 36 verse 24 [above].
These verses in Ezekiel may
suggest that the prophecy [in Ezekiel 35]
is, specifically,
for
a time after 1948!
